In July 2010 the Ministry of Housing and the Environment launched the competition “Biodiversity through my Eyes”, which invited participants to submit photographs of scenes taken from the local natural environment of Trinidad and Tobago. The following is a selection of the entries that won their category or received special commendation. Categories for the completion were, “In Praise of Plants”, “Animal Portraits”, “The Underwater World”, youth (12 -16 yrs) and children (11 yrs and under).

Category winners as well as the overall competition winner had their entries displayed at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City for the 65th UN General Assembly.
